Buddy Media, Nanigans, BLiNQ Build On Facebook’s New Ads APIs, Could Show Wall Street The Money
Posted On 27 Jul 2012 By Josh Constine. Under: Uncategorized.
Investors demand more revenue from Facebook, and Sheryl's got just the APIs to give it to them. Over the last two days, three major ads tech partners have revamped their products with recently released Facebook APIs that allow brands to track and optimize for on-site conversions including app installs, buy home page ads and logout page takeovers, and target ads specifically to mobile.
The new capabilities in tools from Buddy Media, Nanigans, and BLiNQ Media (who just updated today) will attract ad dollars from app developers, huge brands, and local businesses. That means more revenue for these Ads API providers and more revenue for Facebook, which it needs to rescue its share price, down 11.7% today. No Comments
Private Facebook Data Powering Ads Outside Of Facebook — Is The World Ready?

Because investors sure are. Facebook's share price jumped up 3.8% to $33.05 today on news that it's now showing its ads on Zynga.com in a revenue sharing partnership. Most amazingly, neither the press nor users seem to be freaking out that their private, personal data is now being used to target them with ads outside of Facebook.
That means Mark Zuckerberg waited just long enough, proving he's even smarter than he used to be.No Comments
Facebook Ads and Sponsored Stories Are Now Running On Zynga.com, Previewing A FB Ad Network
Posted On 22 Jun 2012 By Josh Constine. Under: Uncategorized.
Zynga.com is now running Facebook ads and Sponsored Stories, a revenue split partnership the two companies outlined in Facebook and Zynga's S-1s over the last year. The ads appear in the Zynga right sidebar, and use the same personalized targeting exhibited by ads on Facebook.com. This agreement allows Zynga to better monetize its standalone site without the need for expanding its sales force, and meanwhile Facebook essentially gets free money. The exact percentages of the revenue split have not been disclosed.
The set up gives the world a look into what a Facebook ad network could look like across the web -- a move that could allow Facebook to leverage its vast store of biographical data and the social graph to boost revenues. No Comments
Problems For Monetization: Lawsuit Forces Facebook To Let You Opt Out Of Sponsored Story Ads
Posted On 21 Jun 2012 By Josh Constine. Under: Uncategorized.
Facebook's business model just hit a stumbling block, as the social network is being forced to let users opt out of having their likenesses repurposed as endorsements in Sponsored Stories ads. The requirement of opt out controls comes as part of a settlement of a class action lawsuit where five Californians said they did not consent to having their names, faces, and activity used to promote companies who paid Facebook. It could have been even worse, as it appears that these controls will work on an story-by-story basis, and won't allow users to opt out of all future Sponsored Stories. No Comments
They Work! Facebook Mobile Ads Are Clicked 13X More, Earn 11X More Money Than Its Desktop Ads
Posted On 19 Jun 2012 By Josh Constine. Under: Uncategorized.
How will Facebook monetize mobile? Its organic-seeming Sponsored Stories ad format may be the answer. Mobile Sponsored Stories are getting over 13 times the click-through rates and earn 11.2 times the money per impression (eCPM) on mobile compared to all of Facebook's desktop ads, and 1.93 times the CTR and 2.65 times the eCPM of Sponsored Stories on the web in the two weeks since Facebook began selling them separate from web ads.
The data comes from new studies by TBG Digital, AdParlor, and Spruce Media, three of Facebook's biggest Ads API partners that help brands buy ads. Since Sponsored Stories slip into content feeds so seamlessly, Facebook may actually be better equipped to handle the shift to mobile advertising than other web-first tech companies. Let's check out the early proof. No Comments
FB’s Biggest Ecommerce Platform Payvment Lets Its 165K Sellers Easily Buy Taste Graph-Targeted Ads
Posted On 19 Jun 2012 By Josh Constine. Under: Uncategorized.
The "Taste Graph" is Payvment's secret weapon. Facebook's top ecommerce platform has spent two years finding out what Facebook users Like and buy, and starting today its 165,000 merchants can use it to auto-target ad campaigns. See many businesses don't have know how to A/B test, target, or manage Facebook ad bids, but now they just set their total budget, and Payvment pre-populates creative from their store, optimizes bids, and show ads to people interested in similar products.
The result is ad campaigns that get 25% better click through rates than those bought through Facebook's self-serve platform. By making Facebook ads easier and more effective for the massive long-tail of small businesses, Payvment will boost Facebook's revenu and take a cut for itself. No Comments

Advengers Assemble! Facebook Gathers Creative Council Of Agency Execs To Advise On Product
Posted On 18 Jun 2012 By Josh Constine. Under: Uncategorized.
If Facebook is going to get its share price above water, it needs the support the ad agencies. So today it announced the Creative Council -- 14 agency execs that will provide advice -- and Studio Edge, a suite of new marketing education tutorials.
The Creative Council will be a "sounding board for both Facebook product ideas and key agency needs". The advisors could persuade Facebook to launch flashier ad units or more invasive targeting mechanics. The marketing products the Creative Council guides will benefit from Facebook Studio Edge's interactive guides designed to make Facebook's social marketing products less befuddling for those closer to the Mad Men era than the digital age.No Comments
Facebook Did Not Confirm Hyper-Local Mobile Ad Product, But Here’s How It Would Target You
Posted On 18 Jun 2012 By Josh Constine. Under: Uncategorized.
Facebook may one day let advertisers target mobile users based on their exact current location, but VP Carloyn Everson did not confirm that such a product is in the works to Bloomberg, Facebook tells me. The New York media company misinterpreted statements from Everson, who merely said you could imagine the product evolution afforded by a mobile phone's location awareness.
So we won't say Facebook is "readying" such a product, but that doesn't mean it won't emerge eventually. let's imagine how it could look. Real-time hyper-local Facebook advertising could allow local businesses to advertise to people in sight of their brick-and-mortar store, or let travel companies target people when they're away from their home city. And competition to reach those out-and-about users could drive up ad prices and earn Facebook more money. No Comments
